My grandmother Goesch was the primary quilter. She died in the early 1950's and the quilt was finished a fews years before that since she was ill for several years and could not work on the quilt. Most of her quilting was done while still on the Filmore County farm before they moved to Sutton (mid-40's) because of her failing health. Her quilt frame was always set up in the east sunroom off the kitchen in Sutton, NE after moving to town. The material probably came primarily from ladies' garments. Even though the quilt shows some wear, I cannot remember ever seeing it on a bed. For as long as I can remember, Grandma's quilts were stored in a cedar chest.
